Outstanding achievements recognised at CIPD Student of the Year event
Celebrations were in order last night as Heart of Worcestershire College, in partnership with CIPD, hosted their annual CIPD Student of the Year Awards.
The awards recognise the achievements of students who have demonstrated outstanding attributes while studying a CIPD qualification at the College.
In total five students received awards which were presented by Tracy Arlott, Chair of CIPD Worcester Branch.
Speaking about the students achievements and the partnership between the CIPD and the College, Tracy commented;
“The CIPD recognises that students are the future of our profession and therefore providing support to centres at a local branch level is extremely important. The Annual Student Awards have been running for a number of years now and it is a highlight for me to honour their successes every year. The Hereford and Worcester Branch is very proud to have a long standing partnership with the Heart of Worcestershire College which I hope will continue for many years to come.”
Chelsea Field, one of the five award winners, who studied the Level 7 Advanced Diploma in Human Resource Management, commented on her experience of the course;
“The College were really supportive and I thoroughly enjoyed working with all the tutors. It was challenging especially whilst working full time, however the hard work certainly paid off. If anyone is considering doing a CIPD course I would definitely recommend the College.”
Catherine Simcox, who studied Level 5 Certificate in Human Resource Management, further commented;
“My student cohort were brilliant, the tutors energising and the session were really interactive.”
These comments certainly reflect the high quality results the College received earlier in the year; having a 93% exam pass rate which is 29% above the national average.
Attendees were also joined by Guest Speaker Shamim Stokes from Sodexo who presented ‘Leading Change’ a workshop on change management.
The full list of award winners are; Lorna Baker, Human Resource Officer at AKW Medi-care Ltd, Zalina Bingham, Volunteer at Heart of Worcestershire College, Abi Robbins, Human Resource Assistant at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, Catherine Simox, Human Resources Officer at Worcester City Council and Chelsea Field, Human Resource Advisor at WM Housing Group.
