Heart of Worcestershire College is proud to offer a rich variety of sports courses across its Worcester and Redditch campuses. As a College we have a strong reputation for sport and strive to provide our students with the best possible opportunities to kick-start their career.
In addition to gaining an academic qualification, our sports courses focus on vocational skills and include an element of work experience.
We are lucky enough to have access to a wide variety of facilities including;
Perdiswell Leisure Centre, Worcester - We have teamed up with Freedom Leisure and Worcester City Council to develop new sports facilities exclusively for our students at Perdiswell Leisure Club. Facilities include: fitness studios, football pitch and bespoke teaching classrooms.
Our Sport students will be using the state-of-the-art facilities for their lessons, enjoying a modern, bespoke learning environment. Furthermore, our students will have the opportunity to undertake work placements within Freedom Leisure, giving them the best chance to develop their skills and become ready for employment in the sports and leisure industry.

Sports Hall, Redditch- Our Sports Hall in Redditch is specially equipped to house a number of sporting lessons and events. It has basketball, netball, volleyball and badminton courts. We also have 11 sport wheelchairs.
Sport Performance and Rehabilitation Centre, Redditch - This centre is equipped with a state of the art sport rehabilitation clinic that can accommodate 10 patients at a time to receive treatment on all injuries and is used for all sport science learners to master skills in sport massage and taping & strapping. In addition to this the SPARC also has a human performance laboratory that is equipped to put athlete’s through a range of physiological tests from VO2 Max Gas Analysis and blood testing. We also are able to record and analyse individuals and team performances using our video analysis software and provide them with statistical analysis of their performance.
Fitness Suite, Redditch Suite - We have an onsite gym that is fully equipped with cardio machines and weights. The gym is used as a learning environment to help learners develop skills in training and programming and support learners on personal training qualifications that we run. When the gym is not being used it is available for learners enrolled at college to use supervised by our sports staff who also provide learners with training advice and programmes.
Worcester Football Academy- Our Worcester Football Academy is open to those students who have a passion and talent for playing football. You will have the opportunity to train and play football while gaining your qualification. Discipline and self-motivation is essential. Entry into the Football Academy is based on pre-season trial. In recent seasons the Football Academy have had many successes; reaching the semi finals of the National Colleges cup twice, winning leagues and having players sign contracts at professional and semi-professional clubs.
The Sports Performance Study Centre, Worcester - located at the Deansway campus it includes a wide range of up to date fitness testing equipment, data analysis and video technology, ILT sports software and a number of cardiovascular and conditioning pieces of equipment for academic students and all staff.
External Sports Facilities
The College has recreational and competitive teams in a variety of sports and readily accesses local sports facilities across a wide range of Sports Clubs including swimming, athletics, climbing and trampolining. In addition we have developed links with the extensive sports facilities at the University of Worcester and have access to their equipment and expertise.
School Sport Partnership
In addition to our facilities we have a very successful partnership with SSP where our learners run and host a range of events for primary and middle schools which enables our learners to apply the skills taught in the classroom, whilst gaining valuable experience that will support them when progressing onto university or into employment.
