Course overview

This qualification develops the skills and knowledge needed to provide effective support for teachers and pupils as part of learning programmes. It also covers the development of children and young people, working effectively with colleagues, child protection and preparing displays. Throughout this course you are encouraged to study maths and English. In order to progress onto a level 3 course you will need to have achieved maths and/or English at grade c or above

Entry requirements

You will need a good understanding of English and maths, preferably GCSE grade A-C. If however, you have not attained the GCSE grades, you will be encouraged to arrange to study maths and English alongside the course.

You will participate in a face to face interview and provide a hand written piece of work to allow for an assessment of your literacy skills. You will need to provide a clear DBS (this paperwork can be completed at College if necessary).

You will be required to find your own work experience placement.

To progress onto our level 3 course you will need to have achieved maths and/or English at Grade C or above

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed in a number of ways, including written tasks, professional discussions and school placements. You are required to attend school placement for the equivalent of 2 days per week, preferably in the same class.

What can I do next

On completion of this course, you could progress on to the Level 3, provided you also achieve English and maths at grade C or above.
