Award in Facials & Make Up (Part Time)

Course overview

This qualification is about providing facial and make-up services to clients.

This qualification also covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare for the service and maintain effective health, safety and hygiene working practices throughout the treatment as well as developing your skills to deal with consultations, complaints and all forms of client care.

Basic equipment is provided for this course.

Entry requirements

Are you interested in beauty therapy or building on your existing hairdressing and/or beauty therapy qualifications? Then this is the course for you.

Learners must be dedicated to studying at home for theory exams and practicing the skills that they have been taught at college.

Course Modules

Facial:
This qualification is about providing Facial services to clients. Maintaining and improving facial skin condition using exfoliation, skin warming, comedone extraction, facial massage, mask treatments and facial moisturising products. You will need to maintain
effective health, safety and hygiene procedures throughout your work.

Make-Up:
This qualification is about providing make-up services for a variety of occasions, including day, evening and special occasions. You will need to show you can work with a variety of skin
types and conditions. The unit covers the application of a wide range of make-up products to different skin tones and age groups.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is progressive, and unit based involving both practical and written assessments with credit being given for skills as they are practiced within our onsite salons.

The qualifications that are achieved on this course is VRQ Level 2 award in Facial Massage and Skincare and a NVQ Level 2 Award in Make-Up, which is validated by the awarding body VTCT (Vocational Training Charitable Trust).

You will be required to undertake the following assessments during this course:
> Two online theory exams for Facial Skincare
> Two online theory exams for Make-up
> One online theory exam for Health & Safety
Practical observations to pass all elements of the course, covering a range of treatments on different clients.

At the end of the qualification you can further develop your knowledge and skills by undertaking other Level 2 Beauty courses to further develop your skills and knowledge.
