Ability (Acquired Brain Injury), Level 1
Ability is a course specifically designed for learners with an acquired brain injury who need close and caring support to enable them to take advantage of an exciting, personalised learning programme. Students will work at their own pace on learning journey towards individual goals and will receive support to enable them to progress onto supported employment or independent living.
Our course is designed around the principles of Cleopatra’s pyramid which identifies the main effects of an acquired brain injury such as memory loss, concentration and fatigue.
Learners will be able to select form a range of educational options such as Living with a Brain Injury, Computers, Art, and Crafty communication. We also offer enrichment opportunities such as cookery and visits to places of interest.
A team of Learning Support Assistants will be on hand to accompany learners throughout their time at College. We have a highly trained experienced team of tutors to deliver this course whose ultimate aim is to give you confidence, social and educational experience within a safe environment.
Our course is aimed at learners who have experienced a brain injury through accident or illness. We welcome referrals from relevant agencies, including ABIES, hospital rehabilitation teams and Headway. Individual referrals can also be made directly to the Ability course team
How will I be assessed?
