Extended Certificate in Computing, Level 2

Please note that the full time option for this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year olds.

Course overview

Our Diploma in Computing, Level 2 will introduce you to the world of computers and help you take your first-step onto the IT career ladder. By the end of the course, you will be aware of networking essentials, know how to recognsie different types of hardware and software, and be ready to work in the world of IT!

Our hands-on course will introduce you to a range of IT subjects. You will discover how a computer works and how to create graphics and websites, as well as developing your communication skills.

Please note that this course is predominantly aimed at 16 to 19 year olds.

Entry requirements

Applicants require 4 GCSE’s (A*-D) or (Grade 3 and above) to include English and Maths. Entry will be subject to a satisfactory reference and interview.

Entry decisions will be discretionary at interview. Students will continually be assessed through probation period to ensure they are on the correct level.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed through a combination of coursework activities, such as short tests, reports, practical activities and projects.
You will have the chance to work with local businesses to create products for them, thus building your portfolio in a real working environment.

If you want to take your skills to the next level, you will want to take our Extended Diploma in Computing, Level 3.

Alternately with a Diploma in Computing, Level 2, you can choose to enter a range of career pathways, including hardware retail, technical or network support, web, games or software development.
